Downward punching
A great way to develop knockout power in a punch is simply to change the direction of the punch. Usually, a downward dropping motion of the punch will provide great results. If a person throws a cross at someone's jaw and the puncher directs his punch slightly downward, then the punch will connect with a number of nerve endings and this will facilitate a knock out much quicker.
This is the same (if not moreso) when it comes to the cross to the midsection. The ab muscles are designed to deal with direct impact, but not downward impact. Therefore, a downward angle to the cross can be devastating!
