Some Bag Work Drills

When it comes to hitting the heavy bag, there is a bit of a misnomer out there that most bag workouts involve "freelancing" on the bag. While there is a certain truth to this in the sense that hitting the bag in a random, unchoreographed manner at a varying pace is a greta way to work out, build strength and endurance, et al...there are also a number of other ways to work out on the bag so as to change your training regimine.

Here is one drill that I enjoy greatly and it is an advisable workout for those looking to develop endurance designed to translate to sparring and ring work.

Basically, you work the back and hit it very lightly for 15 seconds and then follow with a five second explosive power combination. You repeat this for a three minute round.

What is the purpose of this? To develop the explosive endurance needed in the ring when the opportunity to knock an opponent out with a combination rally presents itself.

Trust me. This is a great drill.
