Training Methods
One thing that people need to understand is that techniques are not necesarily taught so that a person can learn to fight. For example, teaching a student cross hook cross does not mean that the student will be able to walk up to an opponent and fire those three moves and win. Nope. It ain't that easy.
Part of the reason that one teaches these moves is to teach a great variety of information. For example, cross hook cross teaches hip movement, transfer of weight, loading punching, logic and a host of other theories and notions that are taught in the movement of these basic techniques.
Within movement, there is a great deal of information present that can only be tapped into if you perform the movement and pay attention to what is going on. Now, this info can be revealed right away or one needs to practice the moves often. Either way, if you stick with basic training methods based on specific body movements you will develop the skills that these methods were originally intended to develop.
