Side Stepping on a Fouette

Before we go a little further, let us just clear up some of the notes on a savate term. "Fouette" (aka whipping kick, round kick, hook kick) is what a snapping round kick is called in savate.

Here is a little drill that is not as simple as most people think it is.

1.) Your oppponent throws a jab.
2.) You side step
3.) You throw a fouette to the head or midsection

So, what is the hard part? Take a guess. You have steps 1, 2 and 3 to choose from.

Ok, here is the answer: step two is the hard part because most people do not sidestep. They have a tendency to come forward and kick which makes no sense since the jabbing person is coming forward. If you move close to a person coming in then the kick will end up being jammed
