Regarding Throws
Earlier I mentioned how Williams classic boxing book detailed how throws were common clinch tactics in the early days. It is important to point out WHY they were important then and remain important today. While most people associate throws with Judo, they are found in MMA, BJJ, and submission wrestling as well. Throws are also relevant to self-defense. yet some do not think so. The main reason is that throws are "complicated". Nonsense! If you know what you are doing, you won't find it all that tough to throw people. You just need to learn a couple throws and train them properly. Then, you gain a huge advantage......
Here is a fact: If you throw someone, you have an advantageous position and he does not. You will be standing and he will be on the ground. Even if you gently place him on the ground, he will still be in a hugely disadvantageous position. Obviously, the person that performs the throw will be in great position in a self-defense situation. No, there are no guarantees in any self-defense scenario...but throwing someone puts the odds in your favor. Throws aren't just cool looking, they are game changer.
