Faye DVD Arrived

I received my copy of Rick Faye's JKD Dummy Set DVD and I have to say that this was a very good dvd that is great supplementary and reference material for those who are looking to learn about the classic JKD/Wing Chun training. The DVD is essentially a taping of a seminar and there are a few problems present in the tape such as a lack of graphics or 'sub-titles' explaining some of the very complex movements. However, this would drive up the production costs of the DVD so I understand the 'no frills' production. That is not to say that the production is poor. It isn't. There were no instances other than a few camera flubs where picture clarity was an issue.

What you do get with the video is a 75+ minute presentation of the material broken down and presented slowly so you can understand it. Additionally, Faye provides some of the practical applications of the dummy and puts them into their proper historical context. The fact that this occurred at what appears to be a seminar makes it non-scripted and more natural as opposed to the 'stiffness' present in a number of in studio instructional productions.

Bottom line: This is a recommended DVD for JKD fans that covers a very overlooked aspect of training the art.
