Momentum
One of the more misunderstood concepts in stand up fighting is momentum and its relationship to loading. In order to make this entry a little clear, I want to mention that this concept of momentum is very evident in savate and savate will be the art that I will base the example on. However, I will use standard boxing as an example of loading.
Loading means that you shift your body weight to load a punch. Here is the most common example: cross - hook - cross. The cross loads the hook and the hook loads the cross.
This can carry into the following: foutte-chase-cross. However, due to the dynamic of the chambering of the kicks, momntum plays a vital role as well. That is to say when you finish the foutte use the momentum of the foot falling in order to chamber the sidekick as a way of properly enabling the chambering to fully complete. This is similar to the boxing loading, but without the extreme shifting of weight. (You will want to be light and "float" when you deliver the chasse.
