Private Lessons For Specialization

Here is a slight follow-up to my prvious post about private lessons. When people take private lessons, they have a tndency to run through a number of topics through the course of their lesson (usually for an hour) First off, there is absolutely nothing wrong with running through a multitude of material. After all, it is your lesson and you may have a number of questions on a number of different topics. It is also important, however, to spend an hour or more of the private lesson on one specific area. This may seem like a dull plan, but it can be very interesting - especially if you delve deeply into subjct matter that you get into many fine details of a particular move or moveset that you reach a significantly skilled understanding of the material.

Let's put that into more crystal clear words: if you spend one or more private lessons on the jab, you will come out of it (hopefully) with a really skilled jab.

The private lesson must, of course, be a properly conducted one. If all it consists of is a bunch of focus mitt drills working different jab combinations, then you are going to be wasting a lot of time. You want a serious trainer and a serious training session. That is why I suggest you take your private lessons from a boxing coach who has a legitimate boxing background.
