Moving when training

One of the problems that occur when people tran is the fact that they undermine their fighting ability by training flatfooted. In other words, if you are hitting focus mitts and the heavy bag, but do not move around the bag or hit the focus mitts while standing still and flatfooted et al then you are undermining your training. After all, no real fight occurs that way. Opponents move and move alot. If you are training static, then you will never be able to translate your training to realistic fighting.

In order to effectively perform properly, what needs to be done is that if you are working a heavy bag, you need to get up on your toes and enact the critical footwork and movement that is required for sparring. If you are working a focus mitt drill, then both the puncher and the mitt holder must get up on their toes and be active. If not, what you are learning is simply a time waster and a weak copy of what real boxing actually is.
