The road back

After experiencing a lengthy layoff, it must be accepted that there will be a certain time period required to getting your game back at the level that it once was prior to the layoff. While such a common sense statement is understandable by all, many individuals will not "embrace" the statement because of psychological hinderences and ego. In other words, they can not accept their diminished atheltic capacity. This is a shame because such a "diminishment" is only temporary. Skill has not been lost. Cardio and muscular endurance have.

So, it will take time to rebuild what was lost. Usually, the amount of time required is fairly minimal. However, prior to rebuilding that lost endurance, performance will suffer. From this, the ego becomes "bruised" because the expectations one has one one's performance can not match the physical limitations that are present. Again, this is a psychological torture a person puts himself through for no real reason. Don't do it to yourself. Just take your time and let your endurance build. Things will correct themselves in time.
