Lead Hand Sparring
Here is a sparring drill that most people seem to neglect: the art of lead hand sparring. What it is, is exactly what it sounds like, you spar without using the rear hand. The lead hand is then limited to jabs, hooks and lead uppersuts. (Of course, you can target the head or the body) This is an excellent drill that helps refine the use of the learn hand while training the body to 'load' multiple punches from the same side. Also, you can break this down further by placing unique rules on the game such as one person can only start a combination with a hook and the other can only start with an uppercut. Or, you could cut it down to one technique such as only jab sparring. Keep in mind, the goal here is not to win or be competitive, it is to develop skills and increase athletic performance. Of course, it is also designed so that you can have a ton of fun so do not neglect that aspect as well!
