Go Easy on the Sparring

If you want to improve your performance as a boxer, then you are going to have to spend a few rounds in the ring sparring. This should be a no brainer! After all, how do you expect to become better if you are not throwing a few rounds every now and then (if not regularly)?

And please don't think hitting the heavy bag all the time will equate to boxing skill. It will not! You need to get in the ring and practice. However, this does not mean that you need to get overly aggressive with your training partners nor does it mean you have to really kill each other. In fact, you want to take the opposite approach: you want to go light.

When you go light, you are able to work technique, skill and precision while at the same time avoiding needless injury. Also, by going light, you can increase the length, frequency and duration of sparring sessions. And, keep in mind, the more that you spar, the better you will get.

So keep it light!
