Instructors Who Harm Themselves

It is never easy being an instructor. There are a number of complexities that the instructor must deal with that can make his or her job much harder than it already is. This can put a lot of stress on the instructor and lead them to cutting corners and taking shortcuts. Once they do this, they have pretty much harmed themselves.

Your students are a reflection of you as an instructor and their particular skill level is a reflection of your ability to effectively coach students. When the performance of the students is limited or weak, then what you have created is a billboard to the effect of: "I either can not or will not teach." Is this really what an instructor should strive for?

Sadly, there are a number of instructors out there who simply cut corners because the revenues roll in. Since many adults looking for an active hobby do not really care whether or not they can actually spar or develop the critical skills necessary to be an adequate boxer/kickboxer, the instructors happily go through the motions of running a below board class.

And the boxing world is a lot weaker for it....
