Reading up on Sparring

For those that want to read a really gret book on proper sparring and sparring technique, you will probably wish to read the second volume in the Boxer's Start Up series. Fighting Fit: Boxing Workouts, Techniques and Sparring (Start-Up Sports, Number 12) by Doug Werner and Alan Lachica (Paperback - Dec 2000)

I mention the Boxer's Start Up series quite often on this blog mainly because the three volume series remains probably the definitive box series on the proper way to train boxing ever published. (BTW - Check out the Start Up Fencing series when you get a chance as well)

"Fighting Fit" basically details how to spar and also provides a number of drills that will greatly help a hobbyist develop stronger sparring drills. The Boxer's Start Up Series is NOT a fitness or cardio boxing book series, that's for sure. If you want to learn about the sport, devouring those three volumes will be a step in the right direction.
