Check out ESPN Classics (Boxing Programming)

It has been (rightly) said that in order to get better at boxing, you need to watch boxer’s in action. This is 100% true and any student of the boxing game needs to tune in to boxing on TV. But, that does not mean that you should look at current TV exclusively. You need to hit up ESPN Classics and watch some of the legendary bouts of many years ago. Ali. Frazer. Lewis. Marciano. Foreman. All of them.

Boxing, like all other sports, evolves. As the years edge on, there will be changes in the knowledge of health, sports, training and exercise. This, of course, will alter sports. Today, for example, boxer’s will lift heavy weights. In the 1940’s, they didn’t. As such, the added strength and mass the weightlifter performs will create differences in the way they box. So, if you only at the modern boxer’s, you will miss out on some interesting aspects of the sport that were present in prior generations.

This is to say nothing of the fact you’ll be pretty entertained at many of the legendary, classic battles that are well worth watching time and time again. So, stay informed and have fun.
