Gloves

I am often asked about what type of gloves one should use for training. What I will do is break this down into two parts. It is really simple actually. Part one will be gloves to avoid and part two will be the types of gloves to purchase. Note: There is a pronounced difference between the two!

First, you need to avoid anything that is cheap. If it is under $30, forget it. This includes even gloves made by name brands and are sold in places like Sports Chalet, et al. These gloves are DANGEROUS. They do not offer any valid protection and place you hand at great risk for being broken. The key to a glove is the fact that it keeps you from injuring yourself. These low grade gloves are just 'cheapies' designed for fadists looking to hang a bag in their basement and train one week before quitting. For a serious minded person, these gloves wouldn't even last a week because they are poorly constructed and will wear down rather quickly. Plus, their interiors are usually shoddy and not well insulated. That is, pieces of it start to fall apart when they are in use.

Does that even remotely sound like the type of training equipment you want on your hands?
