Speaking of Private Lessons....
Keep in mind, if you are taking private lessons, you should be paying for instruction and not for someone to merely hold equipment for you. Far too often, a private lesson becomes little more than a mere workout session. Then again, this is fine PROVIDED this is what you want. Sometimes it is absolutely necessary to have someone push you real hard in training. However, you must always realize that you are payong for LESSONS. If the person you are paying is not paying attention to improving your performance, then the purpose of taking the private lessons becomes critically undermined.
How do you avoid this situation? Ask questions.
Perform a little research into the area that you wish to improve upon and when a question arises, make a mental note of it. Then, when your training session occurs, ask the question. From this, you will receive valuable feedback from your trainer that will effectively aid in your ability to learn and improve. In other words, you need to contribute to your own private lesson in order to get a little extra mileage out of it.
