Another Tip on the Thai Round Kick

Probably the most distinctive aspect of the Thai kick is that is does not snap and it uses the shin and the impact tool. The shin delivers a significant amount of damage when it lands but it can only deliver such damage if it actually lands. If it is the instep that lands then you are cheating the shin out of its job so to speak. Often, people assume that it is distance that dictates whether or not it is the shin that will land. This is partially correct but probably the most critical aspect of whether or not the shin lands vs. the instep will center on how straight your leg is. If you leg is fully straightened out then the instep will land. If you are savvy enough to slightly bend the leg when you kick then you will deliver a clear shin shot. It is as simple as that.
