Walking and Boxing Don't Mix

Here is something I wanted to point out to beginners: when you are boxing you shouldn't be walking. That is, there are a number of specific means in which a person can move in boxing and they include step and slide, slide and step, push shuffle, etc. What they do not include is walking. If you walk as a way of adjusting your distance when you box you will be WIDE OPEN to getting hit and you will also greatly inhibit and reduce your capacity to punch an opponent. Again, this is why the footwork of boxing is very clearly defined and specified. So, if you want to avoid getting hit then you need to avoid walking when you box.
