Boxing for MMA
When it comes to boxing for mixed martial arts, there are a number of differences involved. Mainly, it is best to stick with straight punches (jab/cross) and, sparingly, the uppercut.
The reason for this is that because of the use of throws, takedowns, knees and elbows, punches can be met with an overwhelming response. As such, a body hook may be returned with a knee. This is why longer range straight punches are advised. Uppercits can be snuck in, usually, when a person shoot for a takedown sloppily. (The uppercut becomes a great counter to the sloppy takedown)
