Never Lead with a Kick

Ok, never is a pretty strong word, so let's rephrase the statement.

If you are of beginner skill as a kickboxer, avoid leading an attack with a kick. The reason for this is that it is very tough to inflict a lot of damage or end a fight by kicking and any kick leaves a person open for a knockout cross or a takedown. Lead with kicks sparringly and WITH CAUTION!

Of course, experienced fighters will be able to get away with leading with a kick, but remember, THEY ARE EXPERIENCED! For a novice, leading with a kick may turn out to be a disastrous venture.
