Body Shots to Kicks

In the previous post, I discusses using low line punches to set up high line punches. In that entry, I was referring almost exlcusively to boxing, but there can also be kickboxing modifications added to the game as well.

However, using a body shot to set up a kick may not be workable because mixing close range punching (uppercuts, body hooks) to a kick would prove difficult considering the differences in range that would have to be adjusted.

So what is a person to do?

Add a head shot in there.

In other words, use the low body shots, jab out (stepping backwards) and then deliver a kick. The jab safely will lead you out of close range to land a kick. Again, most people have difficulty defending against mixing and matching ranges (unless they are an 'angle based' fighter) so such combos could prove to be viably successful.
