Progressive Indirect Attack
Progressive Indirect Attack (PIA) is often erroneously considered an exclusive aspect of JKD. In actuality, Progressive Indirect Attack is a universal concept that exists in any combat sport or martial arts. When PIA is clearly defined, most people see the simplicity of it. And, yes, it is a pretty simply concept to understand and to perform.
Progressive Indirect Attack refers to a forward movement (progressive - and there must be NO retraction) hits a target that was not the primary target (indirect). This may sound complicated, but it is not as complicated as one would assume.
You throw and opponent and overhand to the head of an opponent and as he covers you drop while the punch is reaches its target and convert it into a cross and hit the body instead.
That's it.
One final note: it is not a overhand that is retracted and cocked and then a cross is launch. That would be an attack by combination and not a progressive Indirect Attack.
