The Rear Hook - A No No
A short while back someone asked me my opinion on the rear hook. I am not a fan of it for a number of reasons and I am not alone - you don't see it in professional or Olympic boxing often.
Here are a few reasons why the rear hook to the head (the body shot is not as bad) is to be avoided:
1.) It is easy to intercept.
2.) The punch is an arm stretch punch due to the fact the elbow flares away from the body.
3.) The punch forces you to square up when you throw it and this puts you in a very poor position when it comes to re-adjusting after you throw it.
