Covering a kick
You are probably familiar with using your elbow to cover a Muay Thai kick to the ribs. It is "simple." You bring your elbow/arm to your side and then curl your body and circle to absorb the kick. Again, this is simple right? Oh yeah? WHEN do you curl the arm? Most people do it while the kick is half way on the way to your body. Hmmm. Remember what we said about fakes/feints? What if the kick is a feint? Do you want your arms covering a kick that will end up being a punch to the head? Here's a better idea...and it is tough to pull off so it is recommended only for advanced people who are under proper supervision. You start the covering AS the kick makes contact. Yes, this is tougher...but it is better.
