Patience, Friends, Patience
Here is a little truth that needs to be understood: any knowledge developed in the sport of boxing is achieved over an extended period of time. That is, you can show up in class and learn a number of facts about a certain aspect of boxing, but when you go to perform it things do not work out the way you initially intended. For some, this is a cause for alarm but it should not be.
When you learn the basics of boxing, there are many core principles that you will learn. These include tucking your chin, not dropping your hands, etc. You will also learn various strategies of boxing such as inside fighting vs. long range fighting. However, when you go to put these principles to practice, you will discover that things do not always work out the way you planned them. This is due to a variety of factors. One of which is that you need to modify what you learn to your particular skills, strengths, ability, body type, etc. Therefore, it is critical to have a little patience when trying to apply what you have learned. The process takes a lot of time and work.
