Boxing Burning Anxiety
Is there any truth to the notion that boxing burns off anxiety and negative energy? Well, it is pretty much established that any form of exercise helps with stress and anxiety. However, it does not occur in the manner most people may assume. That is, some may believe a person gets in front of a heavy bag and “attacks” the bag and “beats it up in anger” to get all their frustrations out. Anyone who is displaying anger and aggression in this manner may be better off seeing a psychologist. Boxing can work wonders for reducing stress but it is not going to cure deep rooted personality disorders…
That said a great deal of anxiety and stress derives from the fact that people internalize their frustrations. In time, this can prove to have a very negative effect on an individual leaving them with a thoroughly stressed out attitude. Clearly, that is not good for anyone. Hitting the heavy bag or working out in the ring in a controlled manner burned up a lot of that excess energy anxiety yields. This means the person could end up being less anxious as a result. While this is certainly not a substitute for working with a therapist, it does put the person in a better position. After all, anything that can minimize anxiety is a good thing.
