A Word on Proper Stances
One of the main problems beginners have when boxing is that their stance is too wide. The proper stance to take is shoulder length apart. This, however, is not always natural or comfortable. As a result, many people will opt to widen their stance. While this may increase comfort levels it also limits mobility as well as power.
Worst of all, when an person in an overly wide stance throws a punch they may even widen their stance further. Before they know it, instead of being in a boxing stance they will find themselves in a quasi-karate stance with very limited mobility.
do yourself a favor - always keep an eye on your stance. Make sure you are shoulder width apart...no more...and no less!
